abstract watercolor painting of teal and blue, white splashes, and black shadows peeking through.

Often words leave me until I am near the power of the ocean and the steadiness of the rhythms, the tempestuous force of eroding mountains.

The power of the participants was like the awesome ocean. As with everything, the both/and pulled at participants. Both the persistence and the pain. The both/and of knowing we will succeed does not detract from the struggle. Forward and back, tumble and roll.

The participants also wondered how long they could continue to crash themselves against the cliffs. Even though they knew the power of water to erode seemingly impenetrable rock, hitting rock still hurts.

Then again, there they are. The participants move to their own rhythm in concert with the moon, planets, and stars. The participants are beloved for their power, frightening with their pull, and soothing with their peace. They are all of it. The fixed rocks relent.
